~~~~~ The Problem
~~~~~
Every homeowner gets frustrated waiting for hot
water -- but how many stop to think what happens to the 2-3 gallons of
water that runs down the drain during the wait?
Those gallons of water are wasted, and in an average household that
takes four showers per day, that can add up to thousands
of gallons per year. Multiplied over a subdivision of 300 homes, a
community
can have millions of gallons of water go down the drain and into the
waste water system every single year (see
state-by-state water consumption and costs).
In a region where
water conservation issues are rising in importance with a rapidly
expanding population, and a record economic expansion that has consumers
looking for comfort, Hot Water pumps -- such as the Watts Premier Pump -- are a good solution to this problem./font>
In typical
plumbing, water is pumped from the water heater through the pipes to the
tap. Once the tap is shut off, the water remaining in the pipes cools --
hence the familiar wait for hot water the next time the tap is opened.
Watts Premier Instant Hot Water pumps offer a solution to the problem.
~~~~~ The Solution ~~~~~
The
Watts Premier Instant Hot Water system is a pump and valve combination that delivers
you hot water in an instant to any faucet or bath in your home. The
Watts System uses a pump at your water heater along with the patented
under sink valve beneath the sink furthest away from the pump. This
patented combination creates a pressure differential that allows the
cold and cool water in the hot water supply line to “by-pass” (at low
volume) into the cold supply line through a thermostatically controlled
valve that is mounted under the sink furthest from the water heater.
This
combination works together to keep the water in your hot water line at
temperature to provide “no-wait” hot water throughout your home. The
timer on the pump makes it more efficient during downtime, like nights
or mid-day. It’s quiet, maintenance-free, and keeps your water at a
comfortable temperature.
~~~~~Hot Water
Recirculation - How It Works~~~~~
TTraditional
hot water recirculation is difficult, if not practically impossible to
install in existing homes --- especially homes with finished basements.
Other companies have responded with clunky under sink units that are
cumbersome to install and difficult to find electrical power under
bathroom sinks. Innovation has developed a solution
specifically for the existing home market. The Watts Premier
Instant Hot Water pump
mounts on the hot water tank and connects to the hot water line.
The Valve goes under the sink furthest from the hot water tank and
connects the hot water line to the cold water line. The valve
requires no electricity! While the water in the line is hot the
valve stays closed. When the valve senses a temperature drop below
98 deg F the valve slowly opens allowing the pump to circulate hot water
through the valve into the cold line which pushes water back into the
hot water tank. NO OUTSIDE WATER NEEDED. When the valve
heats back up it closes. The small amount of "luke warm" water in
the cold line cools VERY quickly. That is how the water stays
INSTANTLY HOT. The sink & shower will always be HOT right away.
No more
waiting for that hot shower!
NOTE: Due to
the low flow rate used by the under-the-sink squeeze valve, this System
DOES NOT work with Tankless Hot Water Heaters. It simply does not
move enough volume to fire a tankelss heater.
~~~~~ It
Saves You Money!!! ~~~~~
Water
down the drain costs you in sewer fees and you would have to pay for
outside replacement water. This pump system solves that problem
and saves you on your water bill and on your sewage bill. Since
you are recirculating your existing water you need not buy more water
and there are no losses down the drain!!! It is estimated that the
average family of uses the shower 4 times per day. That adds up to
THOUSANDS of gallons of water a year wasted down the drain waiting for
the water to heat up.
Users can save energy by setting the 24 hour,
3 position, 15 minute interval
programmable
timer to produce hot water during peak demand times such
as early morning and in the evening.
-
A low-watt, two-pole motor
combined with low flow performance ensures minimum water
heater operating costs, pipe and water heater wear and
energy consumption. Pump uses less energy than a
25 watt light bulb.
-
Significant water (and
sewer) disposal savings, retaining the 12,000 – 38,000
gallons of water a typical U.S. home wastes annually
waiting for hot water. Some fast-growing counties are
making the installation of hot water recirculation pumps
mandatory for all new construction projects.
